The moment I met Mondy and Sheryl, I knew I wanted to photograph their wedding. Since they were Filipino-Americans as well, I already had common ground to bond with them. But beyond that, what struck me most about them was their fun attitude, easy-going manner and a sense of belonging to each other which I admired from the start. They seemed so comfortable to be around with, like meeting old-time friends after a period of non-communication.
The day of the wedding arrived and the atmosphere was warm, relaxed yet chaotic — a frenzy of of family and friends – the way big Filipino weddings are. I felt at home, as I snapped every single moment – trying to capture the feel of the day, the little details and the warm happiness emanating from both the bride and the groom. Sheryl was absolutely glowing. I always thought she was beautiful, but she was the perfect example of a radiant bride. I can only hope my photos did her justice.
It was also my first time to shoot at the Cathedral of Christ the Light, which was absolutely breathtaking. If you’ve never been inside, it’s worth visiting just to see the ceiling. It’s a true architectural wonder.
Once again, congratulations Mondy and Sheryl! Here’s the slideshow.
