The sub-title of this post should be Adventures in Black and White.
Last May, I was challenged by primary photographer Claudia Akers of Claudia Akers Photography to shoot with her a wedding with her primarily in black and white. Shooting in black and white was something I hadn’t done since my early Photography 101 courses but I was up for anything. Plus I always believed that digital cameras did poor rendering of black and white, compared to the real grit and texture of film. I took a leap of faith, set my Fuji S3 to the black and white preset and plunged right in. I think I did a good job with these photos of Martha and Russ on their wedding day. I tried in evoke the spirits of the old masters, taking these photos with a closed mouth and opened eyes – meaning minimal direction in true photojournalism style.
What a neat challenge, Auey–you did a terrific job & have inspired me to try something similar. π
